This is one of the most common selling points of MLM companies these days – especially those in the skincare industry.

A friend of yours has maybe approached you for an amazing opportunity and they want you to be part of it. Now before you start taking out your credit card, make sure you do your research first.

There are legit MLM companies and then there are scams. You have to determine the difference when looking at an MLM opportunity.

Neora is one of those MLM companies in the wellness and skincare industry. If you’ve encountered someone telling you they are Neora brand partner, you might ask yourself if it’s a legit opportunity.

So is Neora a scam or can you really build your dream life with this opportunity?

This Neora review will give you the details to help you decide if this is the right business for you. And let me just reveal right away there is some things you seriously need to consider before joining.

What is Neora?

Neora was formerly Nerium International before changing its name in February 2019.

Nerium International was launched in August 2011 with just one product, Nerium Age-Defying Night Cream. It has since expanded to different products in the skincare industry.

The original company name was derived from the main ingredient in its flagship product, Nerium oleandrin extract.

This ingredient is found in the oleander plant that grows wild in California, Texas, and Florida.

Oleandar is sold as a house plant but is also considered as a highly poisonous plant. However, it has also been medicinally used since ancient times thus the claim of the company that it can help reduce signs of aging.

So why the company name change in February 2019?

Nerium founder and CEO Jeff Olson wanted to reboot the company since most of their products including their healthcare no longer contain the namesake oleandrin.

So it no longer made sense that they branded the company on an ingredient that is not present in the products. Thus, Neora was launched.

According to its company website, their mission is to make people better.

When you join Neora, you become part of their “happiness movement” as you help make the world a happier place and provide you tools to your happiest life.

Now happiness is a great marketing statement to use since I don’t know anybody who doesn’t want to be happy.

But how can you achieve happiness according to Neora? They encourage you to become a brand partner to get discounts on the products and earn through referrals.

So let’s talk about the investment you need for their “happiness movement”.

How much do you need to invest?

For most MLM companies, you would pay a membership fee and then select products to purchase for your initial inventory.

Since there is now more than one product offered by Neora, you get to choose between different membership packages according to your needs and budget.

First, you can join at a minimum cost of $49.95 to become what they call a brand partner. As a brand partner, you get marketing materials and access to online trainings.

You also get your personalized e-commerce website. Therefore, you can learn to maximize selling your products online to increase your market reach.

Now, if you want to get a starter pack with products, you can purchase one at $695. You get the same marketing materials and access to online trainings. You also get an initial inventory of 11 Neora products that are said to be at $950 retail value.

You have to try the products yourself before you can start promoting to your family and friends.

If you’re seriously planning on building your Neora business from the start, there are two other business packages you can get.

The business builder pack costs you $750 with 25 Neora products you can retail at $1350. The premium builder pack is at $1000 and you get 32 Neora products worth $1800 when sold.

As you can see, their membership isn’t cheap. You need at least basic selling skills to move these skincare and wellness products to your friends and family. You get to save 25% as a member so you have that as your profit once you start selling.

If you decide to join, I would suggest you start with the $49.95 membership fee and choose the products you want to try and share. Then you get to test it without too big an investment and can decide if you want to invest more after that.

The premium builder pack can be expensive if you don’t have the selling skills and just starting to learn the business.

How can you earn as a part of Neora?

Neora operates on a unilevel compensation plan.

If you are not familiar with MLM unilevel plans, it means your compensation will be based on the levels of the people in your organization.

The first level is where the people you personally recruited are placed. The second level includes those that were sponsored by the people you personally sponsored. The third level is for those your level 2 people recruited.

Your commission percentage is be based on your monthly retail sales. Below are the range and equivalent commission rate percentage you can get:

• 5% for monthly retail sales between $300 to $1499
• 10% for monthly retail sales between $1500 to $2999
• 15% for monthly retail sales for $3000 and above

So the highest commission rate percentage you can get is 15%.

But for you to be considered active and get your commission, you have to purchase a monthly auto-delivery order of 80 personal products.

It can also include your retail purchases. With this kind of setup, you have to make sure you are earning more than the cost of your monthly volume purchase.

There are other bonuses you can get once you start building your business and move up the ranks.

There are 18 ranks in Neora. You will start as an active brand partner. If you are able to refer 1 new active brand partner, then you can move up to being a brand partner plus rank.

You don’t earn a bonus from everybody under your organization. You must get a higher rank if you want to earn commissions from more levels.

For you to get a higher rank, you need to enroll more people (active brand partners) and purchase more products. Active brand partners are those that purchase the business packs and not just the $49.95 membership fee.

While you would think this opportunity is more about sharing the products and earning along the way, you will notice that the big income really comes from recruiting team members who will continuously purchase products and also recruit new people.

I am not a fan of businesses that operate on recruitment because there are only a definite number of people you can really bring into your business.

The skincare industry is also a competitive one with different companies coming up with products at a different price range. You will really have to be a firm believer in the products you will be promoting.

Is Neora legit?

It’s really important that you check all the facts when you’re researching a company. One of the things I often look into is a company’s registration at the Better Business Bureau.

Upon checking for Neora’s profile, it appears the company’s accreditation has been revoked by BBB’s Board of Directors “due to engaging in activities poorly on BBB or its accredited businesses”.

Neora back when it was Nerium International was filed by BBB in June 2012. But in December 2019, its accreditation was revoked.

According to the site’s warning, Nerium actually operates an illegal pyramid scheme that pushes its brand partners to focus on recruiting new distributors rather than retail products to customers.

This is a warning to anybody who wants to engage with Neora. While everything is still under investigation, this should help you tread carefully when looking at the company’s promises.

I don’t think you would really be happy knowing there are complaints like these about the company.

More importantly, the FTC has announced a lawsuit against Neora.

When the FTC starts an investigation against a company like this, it is definitely something to worry about if you consider becoming a partner, in my opinion.

FTC has started the lawsuit because they believe Neora runs an illegal pyramid scheme as well as promotes dietary supplements by making unproven claims.

They have not been sentenced yet as of writing this review, but this is definitely something you need to be aware of before getting involved.

In addition to this, I also looked for recent income statement disclosures by the company to know how much their brand partners really are earning annually.

Income statement disclosures from MLM companies show the average potential income you can get if you join. This gives a better picture of your income potential from the company.

Unfortunately, the latest income disclosure statement I can find is from 2012 back when the company was still Nerium International.

Quite strange they do not have a more updated statement, in my opinion.

Overall, with all the warnings and reviews, it will be your personal choice if you want to be a brand partner.

But you definitely need to be aware of what is currently going on with the company as it can potentially have a dramatic effect on you and your business depending on how everything turns out.

Final Verdict

So can the happiness movement of Neora really bring you a happy and better life?

Well, I would advise you to really explore your options if you want an opportunity where you can build your income for the life that you want.

While there are a lot of commissions and bonuses offered by Neora, you cannot deny the fact that your income will rely mainly on how many people you can recruit to your team. And most importantly, it seems the future of the company is currently uncertain.

But let’s finish this review by summing up the pros and cons so you can get a better overview before deciding if you should become a Neora brand partner or not.

Overall, if you get to try the products and it works for you then you can promote and share it with your friends and family for profit. It will come down to your personal preference.

You also have to be good at your recruiting skills if you want to build your income in this kind of business.

If you really want to be happy, then it should be doing something you love and gives you the income you want. So be open to explore opportunities until you find the one that really works for you.

However, when it comes to Neora, you seriously need to consider the lawsuit and some of the claims against the company.

You need to be aware of this before getting involved so you know what you are getting into before investing.
