Is Fancy Hands a Scam or a Legit Job Opportunity? (Review)

Working from home is the dream of many people and Fancy Hands supposedly offers you to work from home as a virtual assistant.

But is Fancy Hands a scam or is it a real job opportunity?

This is important to know before you spend time applying for a job and start doing tasks for them.

Therefore, this Fancy Hands review will give you all the details about what you can expect from a job at the company so you know if it will be worth it for you or not.

Because let me just reveal right away that it is not suitable for all.

What is Fancy Hands and what does it offer?

Fancy Hands is a US based company. It offers options both for you as someone looking for virtual assistants on project-basis and for you if you are looking for a job where you can work from home.

In this review, I will focus on the options as a Fancy Hands assistant and how good a job it is so you know exactly what to expect.

The options Fancy Hands offers you to work from home can be quite different.

In general, it is small assistant tasks and you can always accept a task or pass on it.

The tasks can, for example, be:

• Take care of scheduling (doctors, business, etc)
• Purchase items on the behalf of people you
• Do online research
• Make phone calls on behalf of people
• Compare prices and track down the best price for something (for example hotels)
• Get refunds for people
• Finding hotels that meet certain criteria
• Data entry

So as you can see that tasks can be very varied and they are not too hard to do.

How long each task will take also varies but you will be able to see an estimated time before you start.

The good thing about getting a job at Fancy Hands is that you can more or less set your own hours. They want people to be around all the time, so if you got time in the middle of the night or during the day time, you can do that.

That is because they serve people from all over the US (and sometimes abroad) so they need to have people at all times of the time to cover the different time zones.

There is, however, no guarantee there will be the most available tasks right when you want them, but overall you can decide when you want to work yourself.

And you can work from home as the tasks is something you can do online or over the phone.

So it has quite a lot of options. But this does not mean it will necessarily be worth as it definitely is not for everyone. But I will get more into who it is for or who it is not for later.

Let’s first look at how you can apply for a job at Fancy Hands if you would like to work as an assistant for them.

How to apply for a Fancy Hands job?

If you decide Fancy Hands sounds like something for you, you need to apply to become an assistant.

The first thing you need to know is that you can only apply if you live in the US.

In addition to that, it is a requirement that you have the Chrome browser on your computer and have a Gmail account.

The reason for this is that some features on Fancy Hands only work in Chrome and Gmail is used to authenticate.

So you need these two things to start your application process. Then you can just simply apply and fill out different information about yourself and you will then have to wait a bit to get an answer.

So you will not be able to start working right away as you need to be approved first.

To be approved you need to be good on the phone and great at internet research. You also need a reliable internet connection and an audio headset with a microphone.

If you get approved, you will be able to see the currently available tasks, the estimated time, the pay, etc. You can then choose the ones that fit you the best and start working.

How do you get paid?

A very important aspect of any job from home is, of course, also how you will get paid. You need to make sure you can accept the payment terms before you starting putting in the time.

To start, you’ll get paid per task on Fancy Hands depending on how quickly the task is finished, what time of day it is, and how complicated the task is.

At first, tasks are worth between $3-$7 per task and can supposedly go up from there. From feedback, I have found around the net, you should, however, not expect it to be much higher than this.

Your payments will go out every other week via Dwolla, which means you can get paid in cash.

It is nice you can get paid in cash, even though it would have been nice to be able to get paid on a weekly basis, in my opinion. But overall the payout options and conditions are fine.

But this does, however, not mean it will be worth it, and that is the big question before you decide to join or not.

Is it worth it?

Let me make it clear that Fancy Hands is a legit way to earn money from home. But if it is then worth it, really depends on your expectations.

If you are not aware of exactly what you are getting into, you might end up getting disappointed.

One thing you need to be aware of is that it can be a way to make some extra money but even though it might sound like easy money, it will not be a way to make you a full-time income.

In addition to this, there are quite a lot of reports from people that have worked for Fancy Hands as virtual assistants about the tasks taking longer than the time estimate which means you risk getting less value for your time.

These two aspects are the most common complaints from Fancy Hands workers and you can see this on the company page of the review site Glassdoor.

You can see on the image above that 34 people have mentioned in reviews on Glassdoor that the time estimate is distorted. And 13 people have mentioned that you need to know that you can not make a full-time income from it.

So the main thing you need to consider before deciding if it will be worth it for you or not is what your goals are. If you are looking to make a full-time income from home, then this is not the right option for you.

And even though it might sound like decent pay for your time, you have to be aware that it will likely NOT give you a high hourly rate – on the contrary.

But with the right expectations, it can be a way to earn a bit of extra money on the side and there are quite a lot of people that have reported that it is great for this. You can see an example of this below.

This Fancy Hands assistant clearly says that she sees it as fun and as a way to make a bit of extra money on the side.

But she also makes it clear that the pay is low and that you should NOT expect to make a living from it.

And one more thing you have to take into consideration is that there is no guarantee that there will always be tasks for you.

There might be periods where you can get more tasks than you have time for and then there might be periods where you can not really find many (if any).

That is just, in general, how it is on portals with freelance tasks.

So, in my opinion, it should not be an income you need to make ends meet as there can be periods where you can only find a few or no available tasks for you.

But as extra side money and if you have the time, it can be worth considering.

Final verdict

Fancy Hands is a legit way to make a bit of extra money from home.

But this does not mean it is a good option for all.

So to give you a better overview before you decide to apply or not, let’s finish this review by summing up the pros and cons.

Pros:

• You can more or less set your own working hours
• You can work from home
• Payout is in cash

Cons:

• No guarantee of a certain number of available tasks
• Low pay
• Not possible to make a full-time income
• The tasks might take longer than estimated

Overall, I think the main thing to consider to find out if Fancy Hands is the right option for you or not is to look at what your goals are.

If you just want to make a bit of extra money on the side and are ok with there might sometimes being many tasks and other times none, then it can be a good option.

If you, on the other hand, want to create a full-time income from home, then you would likely be disappointed in Fancy Hands and should look into other opportunities instead.

These are the main questions to ask yourself so you go into it with the right expectations if you decide to apply to become a part of Fancy Hands.
